NEVINE FARGHALY

Sculptor

Brief info

Egyptian sculptor

She holds multiple degrees, including a bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Applied Arts (1997), as well as a master’s degree and a PhD from Helwan University (2001, 2007), where she is currently a professor of spatial and formative design. Backed by her academic pursuits, Farghaly’s work explores figurative elements with a deep artistic awareness of materiality, as well as technical mastery. Her sculptures take many forms, including those of humans and animals. Spontaneous and joyful in nature, her artistic process is shaped by simple figurative elements juxtaposed with intricate and detailed metalwork. Her practice spans a wide range of scales, from zany miniature sculptures to life-size installations. Farghaly has participated in numerous exhibitions regionally and internationally, including the Beijing Biennale (2017, 2019), as well as the Venice Biennale in 2010.
